Balaji statement on Jayalalithaa thumb impression is false'
Chennai: Dr Balaji has been making false statements regarding his attestation to the thumb impression of former Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary J. Jayalalithaa in the election documents.
Dr Saravanan of DMK, who filed a petition in the Madras high court challenging the election of A.K. Bose of the AIADMK from Thirupparangundram Assembly constituency in the May 2016 elections, has informed this before the Madras high court when his petition came up for hearing before Justice P. Velmurugan on Friday.
The counsel submitted that the deposition made by Dr Balaji that the thumb impression of Jayalalithaa was attested in his presence is false. The thumb impression had been obtained without her knowledge when she was unconscious.
There has been glaring contradictions between the communications sent by the Election Commission of India and the claims made by Dr Balaji, over the issue. Dr Balaji was not authorised by the government or by the Apollo Hospitals or by the AIADMK party to attest the thumb impression and hence he was not an authorised medical officer to attest her thump impressing. Later, the Judge posted the matter for further hearing to August 3
