Jonnavithula's new political party to contest 2024 elections

VIJAYAWADA: Telugu film lyricist and writer Jonnavithula Ramalingeswara Rao on Tuesday announced the formation of a new political entity under the title Jai Telugu Party.

Addressing a press conference here, he said the party will strive to protect the Telugu language and culture, which has suffered a lot in the two Telugu states.

Ramalingeswara Rao maintained that he will announce the agenda of the Jai Telugu Party on August 15, Independence Day. He said the party will contest the 2024 elections.

He regretted that Telugu people had earlier been called Madarasis and subsequently Hyderabadis. But they never got their identity as Telugus, which his party will strive for.

The lyricist and writer said he has designed a flag with five colours – blue representing water, green for agriculture, red for hard work, yellow for glory and white for clean resources.

He said the party flag will have images of five great people who have worked hard and sacrificed for the Telugu language – Gidugu Rammurthy Naidu, Kandukuri Veeresalingam Panthulu, Potti Sriramulu, former prime minister P.V. Narasimha Rao and former chief minister N.T. Rama Rao.

Ramalingeswara Rao mentioned that while Telugu dialect in Telangana is uniform throughout all its districts, it changes into five forms in AP’s regions Uttarandhra, Godavari, Krishna / Guntur dialect, Nellore and Rayalaseema.
