JD (S) candidate Aishwarya B.N. after winning the election
Bengaluru: JD (S) candidate Aishwarya B.N. has won the Binnypet ward bypoll that was held on Monday. The bypoll was necessitated as sitting Congress corporator and Aishwarya’s mother Mahadevamma passed away recently. After being denied Congress ticket, Aishwarya chose to contest as JD(S) candidate and secured 7,188 votes, while Congress candidate Srividya Shashikumar got 5,249 votes and BJP’s Chamundeshwari G, secured just 2,455 votes.
Out of the total 15,051 votes polled, 159 went to none of the above (NOTA) category.
The polling percentage was very low at 43.54 per cent. The chaos created by the political party workers on the polling day is being cited as one of the reasons for poor turnout.
