Firm on quitting Congress, yet to decide on future course: Adagur H Vishwanath

A.H. Vishwanath is not ready to lose his identity. He can't be like Marigowda.

Mysuru: Veteran Congress leader, Adaguru H Vishwanath, who has been disillusioned with party affairs in the state for some time now, announced here on Tuesday that he intended to resign from it in a week, before the end of Ramazan

But he said he had not taken a decision yet on which party to join. “ I have still not decided this. I will reveal everything shortly,” he added emotionally.

Addressing a meeting of his supporters in Mysuru on Tuesday, he said although the Congress was like a mother to him, he was quitting it as he was hurt by the behaviour of some Congress leaders. “Even though I have been saying this openly, neither the KPCC president nor any other leader has responded. Even when I said that I was leaving the party nobody even asked me why,” he regretted, adding, “We brought you to the Congress, but how are you behaving? Mr Siddaramaiah if you had built the party you would have known. I am not ready to lose my identity. I can’t be like Marigowda. I question what is wrong. I won’t bend before the Chief Minister.” .

Accusing Mr Siddaramaiah of finishing both the Congress and the Kuruba community in the state, he said, if he had got even the smallest clue about the way he was, he would never have let him enter the Congress.

“The state doesn’t have Rajiv Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi Congress. It has only Siddaramaiah Congress,” he charged. Regretting that he was called anti-party and a notice was issued to him only because he asked the Chief Minister not to forget those who brought him to power, he said, “Forget about taking my advice, he stopped inviting me to party meetings and told those present not to talk about me. This is dictatorial leadership.”
