League leader K P Musthafa slams civic body ruled by party

Musthafa alleged that the administration lacked the will to carry on the projects.

MALAPPURAM: The Malappuram municipality’s alleged move to shelve some of the ambitious projects of the former governing council has forced the former municipal chairman to come out in the open against the council headed by his own party. In a Facebook post, the local Muslim League leader and former municipal chairman K.P. Musthafa, came down heavily on the municipality’s move to shelve Free WiFi, My Hotel and E-Toilet projects citing fund crunch.

The projects of the former council were widely lauded and the Free WiFi internet service was the first of its kind in the state. Musthafa alleged that the administration lacked the will to carry on the projects. The chairperson of the municipality C.H Jameela responded to Musthafa reiterating the council’s priority in resolving basic issues of the public. “The council has just begun and has to do more things in the next five years. The former chairman’s allegations deserve no reply,” she said.

Free WiFi project had brought the municipality the fame of being the first WiFi town in the state. The ‘My Hotel’ project was meant to ensure food for the downtrodden. Replying through another FB post, Musthafa said that funds would not be a hurdle. “These are well planned projects and I am ready to advise the council to find out ways for more fund as well.”
