Deprived of berth, Mayakonda MLA stages dharna
Bengaluru: Deprived of a ministerial berth, Mayakonda MLA Mr Shivamurthy Naik staged a protest on Monday in front of Kengal Hanumanthaiah statue at the Vidhana Soudha premises.
The four-time MLA demanded immediate convening of the CLP meeting to know why seniors like him were ignored during the Cabinet reshuffle. “I have worked as KPCC General Secretary. While giving me the poll ticket, party leaders were apprehensive, but I won the election again. I am a four-time MLA and yet my name has been ignored,” Mr Naik told reporters.
He urged party leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Digvijay Singh to intervene and rectify the mistakes. While first-timers were inducted into the Cabinet, seniors were ignored. To explain the reasons, the CM should convene a CLP meeting, he said.
“On Tuesday, Congress legislators with experience will hold a meeting. Those like S.T. Somashekhar, Muniratna and Malakaiah Guttedar will attend. The agenda includes change of leadership, securing ministerial berths and resignation from the party if we continue to be ignored,'' Mr Naik added.
