Bengaluru: SM Krishna will regret joining BJP, says Manickam Tagore
Belagavi: Former Chief Minister, S M Krishna may have joined the BJP hoping for a better position and status, but he would one day regret his decision and return to the Congress, All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary, Manickam Tagore, claimed here on Saturday.
Criticising Mr Krishna for quitting the Congress for no logical reason, Mr Tagore wondered how it was possible for someone who was 80 or 90 years old to expect power and position.
“These leaders (like Krishna) should realise that the times have changed for the better and so have parties,” he added.
The Congress leader, who was addressing a press conference, recalled that the Bharatiya Janata Party had once criticised Mr Krishna when he read a wrong statement in the UN
Observing that hardly 50 members of the BJP came to wish the former Chief Minister on his birthday recently, he recalled that when he was with the Congress, party leaders would arrive in large numbers every year to wish him.
Asked about senior leader Vishwanath's alleged plans to quit the party, Mr Tagore, said that he may have given statements to the media but he would remain with the Congress. In his assessment, the Congress party would win at least 44 out of the 56 seats in north Karnataka districts of Vijayapura, Gadag, Hubli-Dharwad, Haveri, Uttar Kannada, Bagalkot and Belagavi, he said.
