Will continue to fight for alternate politics: G Ramakrishnan

Mr Ramakrishnan alleged that AIADMK and DMK distributed money to all the voters instead of securing the support of people.

Chennai: CPI (M) state secretary G. Ramakrishnan on Friday said that his party would continue vouch for the alternate politics in the state to protect the rights of people.

“Our alliance comprising of DMDK, People’s Welfare Alliance and TMC gave a call for the people to support the alternate politics rejecting the bipolar politics of Tamil Nadu lasting for the past 50 years. But the elections results did not support our alliance,” he said in a statement.

Mr Ramakrishnan alleged that AIADMK and DMK distributed money to all the voters instead of securing the support of people by highlighting the solution for the problems faced by the public and policies.

He noted that the Election Commission has postponed the polling in Aravakurichi and Thanjavur seats after large amount of money was seized there. “Our alliance could not win over the support of the voters overcoming AIADMK and DMK’s money power and distribution of cash for votes. However, our criticism of the leaderships of AIADMK and DMK on the corruption charges and socio-economic policies continues to remain relevant,” he said.

The Marxist leader said that the election results makes it clear that his party should strive hard to take forward the slogan of alternate politics by bringing together various forces supporting such a stand and to get people’s support for it.
“We will continue to take up the issues concerning the people on our own party platform and also with our alliance parties,” he said.
