Thiruvananthapuram: Almost all major political parties, except BJP, have suffered a decline in their vote share during this election, compared to that of the 2011 polls. While the Congress suffered the major decline of 2.7 percent and CPM next with 1.68 percent, BJP recorded a 4.47 percent increase in vote share compared to 2011, according to Election Commission reports.
In 2011, BJP's vote share was 6.03 percent. It has now reached 10.5 percent. BDJS, the new entrant into BJP-led NDA, secured a vote share of 3.9. Like the 2011 polls, this time also the CPM had the highest vote share of 26.5 percent. Their vote share in 2011 was 28.18 percent.
Vote share of other LDF partners with the 2011 voteshare and difference in brackets are as follow: CPI 8.1 (8.72;-0.62), JD(S) 1.4 (1.52; -0.12), NCP 1.2 (1.24; -0.04), KC(B) 0.4 (0.72; -0.32) CMP 0.6 (0.65; -0.05). The vote share of CONG(S) was 0.3%
On the UDF, Congress got a vote share of 23.7 percent as against 28.18 percent in 2011. The IUML's vote share came down to 7.4 percent from 7.92 percent in 2011, a decline of 0.52. KC(M)'s voteshare came down to 4 percent from 4.94 in 2011, a decline of 0.94 percent. Vote share of other UDF partners with the 2011 vote share and difference are as follow: KC(J) 0.4 (0.91; -0.51), JD(U) 1.5 (0.02, 1.48), CMP 0.6 (0.65, -0.05). The vote share of RSP is 1.1 percent.
