Chennai: A day after the Centre hinted that DA for all central government employees will be revised, Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday issued a notification announcing that the DA for its employees will be revised on a par with Central government recommendations. As the mode code of conduct for elections is in force, state finance secretary Shanmugham passed orders after getting EC clearance.
The state has decided to enhance DA for its employees on revised scales of pay from the existing rate of 113 per cent to 119 per cent of the pay with effect from January 1, 2016.
A notification to this effect has been issued by finance department and will benefit 18 lakh government employees in the State. The benefit will be a minimal revised pay scale of Rs 183 to a maximum of Rs 2,310. The notification will incur an additional expenditure of Rs 4,620 crore to the exchequer, sources said.
