YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to sweep Andhra Pradesh, say surveys

Another survey by VMR on January 31 showed that the YSRC will get 23 and TD will win just two seats.

Vijayawada: Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSR Congress looks poised to sweep the upcoming Andhra Pradesh polls, according to many surveys.

The latest election survey by Times Now and VMR agency released on March 19, projects the YSRC taking the lead with 22 of the 25 LS seats in AP; the TD gets just three.

The survey also predicts that the YSRC will get 49.5 per cent of the vote, up from 45.5 per cent, while the TD vote share will fall from 40.5 per cent to 36 per cent. This is in keeping with other polls surveys that have predicted a landslide victory for the YSRC. On March 10, the India-TV CNX Opinion Poll showed that the YSRC will bag 22 seats and the TD three.

Another survey by VMR on January 31 showed that the YSRC will get 23 and TD will win just two seats.

The Republic TV-C Voter survey result that was out on January 25 also predicted a massive victory in Andhra Pradesh for the YSRC. According to this survey the ruling TD will be reduced to six seats, the YSRC winning 19, and neither the BJP nor the Congress able to win a single seat in the state.

With respect to voting share, the survey revealed that the YSRC would be clearly ahead with 41.3 per cent, while the TD is expected to get around 33.1 per cent.

It is worth noting that in 2014, at the height of the Modi wave, the TD in a poll pact with the BJP could win only 15 Lok Sabha seats, while the national party won two seats. In 2014, going it alone, the YSRC won eight Lok Sabha seats.
