Hyderabad: TPCC chief and Nalgonda Lok Sabha candidate N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Wednesday said the TRS had no right to ask the people to vote for it as it failed to turn the assurances made by the Centre at the time of bifurcation into reality.
He said if the Congress is voted to power at the Centre, it would give national status to one project in Telangana state and also fulfil all bifurcation promises. Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy said the leaders deserting the Congress were opportunists. He said that Congress has asked former minister D.K. Aruna to contest from Mahbubnagar Lok Sabha seat, but she rejected the offer.
Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy also criticised the MLAs who defected to the TRS citing reasons like development. He said the TRS does not want any constituency to be represented by an opposition leader. He also reiterated that voting for the TRS was voting for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Former minister K. Jana Reddy alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was “murdering” democracy by encouraging defections. Former minister and Congress candidate for Bhongir Lok Sabha constituency Komatireddy Venkata Reddy and his brother and MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy expressed confidence that the party would both Nalgonda and Bhongir seats.
