Tough battle for Pawan Kalyan in Bhimavaram segment

However, political analysts say that the TD legislator is facing anti-incumbency as he has failed to live up to their expectations.

Rajahmundry: Although the Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan has opted to contest from the Bhimavaram Assembly segment located in West Godavari, along with Gajuwaka in Visakhapatnam district in the ensuing polls, it is not going to be easy for him as he faces tough competition from rivals like Telugu Desam and YSR Congress nominees.

The Jana Sena chief always claimed that based on his call in the last elections, the TD-BJP alliance bagged a landslide victory in West Godavari, as it won all the 15 Assembly and 2 Parliamentary segments. At present, however, as the Jana Sena is contesting with support from BSP and the leftists in some segments.

The sitting TD MLA Pulaparthi Ramanjaneyulu is aiming to win the Bhimavaram segment once again, in the polls which are scheduled to be held on April 11. However, political analysts say that the TD legislator is facing anti-incumbency as he has failed to live up to their expectations.

The YSR Congress nominee Mr Grandhi Srinivas won in 2004 from the Bhimavaram segment while representing the INC, but lost to a TD nominee in 2014.

The caste equations among the voters in the segment seem to be favouring the YSR Congress nominee as the party strategically nominated leaders belonging to one specific social group at Narasapuram, Undi, Achanta, and also at the Narasapuram Parliamentary segment.
