Congress serves notices on MLAs deserting party

On Wednesday, TPCC disciplinary committee chairman M. Kodanda Reddy issued notices separately to each MLA who had defected.

Hyderabad: The TPCC has served notices on MLAs who have defected to other parties, asking them for explanation why they have switched sides.

So far, nine out the 19 Congress MLAs elected in the Telangana Assembly elections, have announced that they are joining the TRS.

On Wednesday, TPCC disciplinary committee chairman M. Kodanda Reddy issued notices separately to each MLA who had defected.

In the notice, the TPCC asked the MLAs to give their explanation within three days, and if they did not send it within the stipulated time, it would be read as being tantamount to them abandoning the Congress and action would be initiated according to the act.

In the notice, Mr Kodanda Reddy also pointed out that during the Assembly election campaign, the MLAs who have now defected had criticised both the TRS as well as Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

He also said that in the elections, they had campaigned according to the Congress ideology and policies. He said that the people trusted their campaign and voted them to power.

He said that after winning the elections, they resorted to “illegal and unethical ways” to joined the TRS.

His notice was backed with evidence from newspaper clippings of their statements on changing the party and video clippings also.
