PM should take up issue of US hate crimes against Indians, says T Subbarami Reddy

Reddy said that USA is a great country and for hundreds of years, people of all origins are living with affection and cordial relationship.

New Delhi: After Congress MP in Rajya Sabha Dr. T Subbarami Reddy raised the issues of hate crime against Indians in the United States of America on March 16, the external affairs minister Ms. Sushma Swaraj assured the Upper House that the concerns were conveyed at the highest level of the US Government.

Dr. Reddy had said “After the new President (Donald Trump) took over, hatred against Asians and Indians is increasing. It is really very, very unfortunate. Because of certain omissions and commissions by the US administration, the hate crimes against Indians are increasing.”

Dr. Reddy further said, USA is a great country and for hundreds of years, people of all origins are living with affection and cordial relationship.

“It is a shocking news in India, for the first time, a Telugu boy Srinivas Kuchibotla, businessman, Harnish Patel were shot dead at different incidents and Deep Rai, a US National of Indian origin, was shot by an unknown person, with a slogan shouting “Leave USA”.

Sushma Swaraj informed the Upper House that she was constantly in touch with the Indian Embassy officials regarding Srinivas Kuchibotla. She added that she had spoken to the wife and parents of Kuchibotla.

Dr. Reddy while expressing happiness and admired the efforts of Mrs. Sushma Swaraj, in spite of her being in hospital at that time, stressed that the issue needs to be addressed much more effectively and the matter should be taken up at the level of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi with the US President, Donald Trump.

Mrs. Sushma Swaraj assured in the Upper House House on the request of Dr. Reddy that she will make much more efforts from the government side and she assured that this issue would be taken up at the level of Prime Minister with President of the United States of America.
