MK Stalin scotches any talk of power sharing
Tiruchy: DMK treasurer M. K. Stalin on Sunday made it clear that his party would not share power with its alliance partners if voted to power in the coming Assembly elections in the State. Addressing a press conference here, he categorically denied the possibility of DMK sharing power or accommodating its allies in the Cabinet in the event of DMK forming a government after the polls.
“No chance” was his cryptic reply to query whether DMK would share power with its alliance partners if voted to power. His comments come in the wake of a section of Congress leaders nursing the hope of pushing for a share in power with DMK in the event of party falling short of majority in the muti-cornered May 16 assembly polls. Congress had extended unconditional support for DMK when it formed a minority government between 2006-11.
“Times have changed. DMK can no longer refuse to share power with allies if it fell short of majority. In multi-cornered elections it is very unlikely the DMK will get a majority of seats on its own. This is simply posturing before the polls,” a senior Congress leader said.
