If no Congress pact, why not friendly fight: Revanna
Bengaluru: With the coalition partners Congress and JD(S) yet to come to an agreement on seat sharing for the parliament polls and speculation raging that they may even go their own ways, PWD Minister and JD(S) heavyweight added to the confusion remarking that if the alliance did not materialize, they(coaliiton partners) could have a friendly fight in the elections.
Mr. Revanna while speaking to reporters here, demanded that the Congress should give 12 Lok Sabha seats of the 28 in Karnataka to JD(S).
"If the Congress wants to win all 28 Lok Sabha seats, it must give up 12 seats to the JD(S). If the alliance does not materialize, we will have a friendly fight in the Lok Sabha elections", Mr Revanna added.
Brushing aside rumours now doing the rounds that his father and former prime minister H.D. Deve Gowda would contest from Bengaluru North Lok Sabha constituency, Mr Revanna urged his father to contest from the Hassan Lok Sabha seat which he represents at present.
“My wish is that Mr Deve Gowda should contest from Hassan Lok Sabha seat. We have requested him to contest from Hassan", Mr Revanna said.
Earlier there were reports that to make way for his grandson, Prajwal Revanna, Mr Deve Gowda had decided to shift to the Bengaluru North parliamentary seat now represented by Union Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda of the BJP . Later party insiders had claimed that it was not Prajwal Revanna but Suraj Revanna, the second son of Mr Revanna who would contest from the Hassan Lok Sabha seat. However, Mr Revanna ruled out the chances of his second son Suraj Revanna entering the fray from Hassan saying, "Suraj will not contest, our candidate is H.D. Deve Gowda."
