Winning the booth matters more than candidate choice: Amit Shah

BJP president wants to repeat formula tested in other states in Karnataka polls too.

Mangaluru: BJP national president Amit Shah, the brain behind the success of the party in various state Assembly polls, has decided to repeat his success formula in Karnataka too. Without stressing on candidates, Shah has given a simple formula to party workers for a victory- 'win your booth win the state.'

With this formula, the party leadership wants to stress more on the party image than candidates. Once this is achieved, the party would be in a safe position to field any candidate and win the election.

"Do not worry about winning the constituency. You fight the election in your booth and aim for victory of the party there and surely we will win the assembly poll," Shah told party workers during the Navashakthi Samavesha organised at Kulkunda near Kukke Subrahmanya on Tuesday.

'Navashakthi, is a formula of Shah and his team where nine important people of each booth would be given the responsibility of ensuring the party's victory in their respective booths. Shah told party workers that this formula has worked in various states and gave a few examples.

"In Manipur we had only 2 per cent vote share and no MLAs. In such a state now we have our own government. In Tripura too we had no MLA and our candidate had managed to save his deposit only in one seat. In the result to be declared on March 3, you will find BJP winning here," he said.

"This is termed a miracle. In five years we have succeeded in forming governments even in those states where we hardly had any seat. This is because of the popularity of PM and the party workers who have strengthened the party at booth level, Nobody can defeat us when the party is strong at the booth level," Shah declared. He attacked the Congress government led by Siddaramaiah saying it was a ‘3M’ govt-of Murder, Mafia Raj and Ministers' corruption. He felt appeasement politics was the reason for the delay in taking action against Mohammed Nalapad, son of Congress MLA NA Haris in the Vidwat assault case. The BJP chief also committed a mistake describing Vidwat as a party worker and later admitted it was a factual error.
