Hyderabad: Telugu Desam ministers in the Central Cabinet would have to resign if the party decided to support a no-confidence motion to be moved by YSRC or Con-gress against the Union government or if the party itself moved it.
For all practical purposes the TD, by joining the Cabinet, was part and parcel of the Central government. No ruling party wo-uld move or support a no-confidence motion against its own government.
YSRC had come forward to move a no-confidence motion against the Central government for not granting special category status to AP. The state Congress also convinced AICC president Rahul Gandhi to move a no-confidence motion for the Centre’s failure to imp-lement assurances given to AP in the Reorganisa-tion Act, including special category status.
In the wake of these developments, AP Chief Minister and TD national president N. Chandrababu Naidu said the TD was also ready to move a no-confidence motion, but it would be as a last resort.
The latest developments were posing problems to TD ministers in the Union Cabinet. If TD supported or decided to move the motion, its ministers would have to resign before that.
In case the party decided not to support the motion to be moved by YSRC or Congress, it would be poli-tically left in the defence.
