Nothing will deter us from fighting against note ban: Mamata

Despite a senior TMC leader getting 3 calls from CBI, the party will not cow down to Centre's tactics says the West Bengal CM.

Kolkata: TMC supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who is in the forefront of anti-demonetisation protests, said even though senior party leader Sudip Bandopadhyay has received three calls from CBI, it will not deter the party from fighting the note ban on Monday.

Banerjee said the Trinamool Congress (TMC) will not be cowed down by the "Centre's tactics of browbeating my party" reiterating that nothing will deter the party from the fight against demonetisation.

When contacted, Bandopadhyay, who is the parliamentary party leader for TMC in Lok Sabha, confirmed the development and said "I called them (CBI) back. They said you have to come to our office."

Bandopadhyay is also the chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railways. On Monday, Banerjee had attacked the Modi government, saying it did not understand the hardship faced by people who had turned 'fakirs' after demonetisation.

"Realising the people's difficulties, Venezuela withdrew the decision on demonetisation, but the Modi government doesn't listen to anyone," she had said.
