Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) appears to be keen on playing the BC card in the Telangana Assembly elections by announcing the Chief Minister's post for a BC candidate.
The BJP’s Central Election Committee was reportedly instructed by the party leadership to focus on selecting BC candidates. If the BJP is voted to form the government in Telangana, the BJP is likely to pick up a BC candidate for Chief Minister's post.
BJP state vice-president and former MLA N.V.S.S Prabhakar said the BJP is working on finalising the first list of candidates. "One thing, I can say is that the BJP will come out with a sensational decision," he said.
The BRS and Congress failed to give a lion’s share to BC candidates in elections, but BJP OBC Morcha State President Ale Bhasker Raaj said they have sent proposals to the national BJP leaders to focus on the BC community by giving importance and requested to offer 50 percent tickets for BCs.
