Jeevan calls Kavitha liquor queen'

Jeevan accuses BRS leaders of replacing traditional goddess with liquor bottles

Karimnagar: Taking a jibe at BRS MLC Kalvakuntal Kavitha over the Delhi liquor scam case, Congress senior leader and MLC T. Jeevan Reddy on Thursday said that there used to be Queen Elizabeth in the past, but in recent times “liquor queen” had become popular.

Participating in the ‘Intintinki Congress’ campaign in Jagtial town, he said, “Instead of playing Bathukamma by placing Gouramma (a form of goddess Parvathi made with turmeric) on the top of it, BRS leaders will place liquor bottles and play Bathukamma, if the BRS forms the government again in the state,” he alleged.

Extolling Rahul Gandhi as one of the greatest leaders of India, who had taken up Bharat Jodo Yatra for uniting all sections of the people across the county irrespective of caste, creed and religion, Jeevan Reddy objected that Kavitha had no right to criticise the former AICC chief. He questioned her about what developmental works she had taken up in Jagtial when she was MP.

Kavitha was responsible for shutting down the Muthyampet and Bodan Sugar factories during her tenure as an MP to Nizamabad, he alleged. “By seeing the enormous development which I was doing in Jagtial, IT minister K.T. Rama Rao was doing the same in his constituency in Siricilla,” he said.

In its nine and a half years of ruling, the BRS has government crushed all the dreams and aspirations of the Telangana people, who were vexed by its anti-people policies, he said.

K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s government has destroyed the public education system by encouraging private universities in the state. There was no mention of the unemployment dole and recruitments in the BRS manifesto. The Chief Minister is trying to betray the people in the name of BC Bandhu, Dalit Bandhu and Minority Bandhu, the MLC alleged.

Jeevan Reddy promised to set up a super speciality hospital in the district within six months and open sugar factories within 100 days after the Congress came to power, apart from implementing the party’s six guarantees.
