Bhuvaneswari to console 105 families in AP through Nijam Gelavali Yatra

Vijayawada: Bhuvaneswari, wife of jailed Telugu Desam chief N. Chandrababu Naidu, would hit the roads “to console the families of 105 party activists who died of shock” following Naidu’s arrest and jailing.

TD leaders noted that Bhuvaneswari camped at Rajahmundry and was meeting the party rank and files who reached there to express solidarity with her at this difficult hour for the family. Following this, the TD high command decided to press Bhuvaneswari into action and solidify the party's file protest against the “illegal” arrest.

First Naidu’s brother-in-law and cine actor Nandamuri Balkrishna announced a month ago that he would be holding an Odarpu Yatra by himself to console these families. Now, Bhuvaneswari herself would take charge of the Nijam Gelavali Yatra.

It was YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy who first conducted an Odarpu Yatra — to console the family members of those who died due to “shock” over chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy’s untimely demise in a helicopter
crash.

Jagan Mohan Reddy started the Odarpu Yatra in April 2010 but later, he was arrested on May 27, 2012, which halted the Yatra. After getting bail, he resumed the Odarpu Yatra in Nov 2013. He consoled the family members during
the tour.

The present yatra of Bhuvaneswari is temporarily named as Nijam Gelavali (Truth Should Triumph). She would visit the families who lost their loved ones.

Notably, the present CM’s sister Y.S. Sharmila and his mother Vijayamma also conducted meetings and tours when Jagan Mohan Reddy was in prison.

The TD leaders said that as part of Nijam Gelavali, Bhuvaneswari would be visiting the kin of 105 party activists who “died of shock” after the September 9 arrest of Naidu. The programme might kick off in the last week
of October.

The decision was apparently taken after the mulaqat (meeting) Bhuvaneswari, her daughter-in-law Brahmani and son Lokesh had with Naidu at the Rajahmundry Central Prison on Wednesday, Oct 18.

Bhuvaneswari and Brahmani are camping at Rajamahendravaram to lend moral support to Naidu. They are meeting him during frequent mulaqats and are finalising the party programmes to keep up the present momentum.

Naidu reportedly asked his wife, son and daughter-in-law not to let the agitation against Jagan Mohan Reddy lose its steam under any circumstance.

Otherwise, even the cadres would lose faith in the party springing back to life, Naidu told them.

With Naidu’s stay in prison getting longer than expected, Bhuvaneswari appears to be in a mood to take charge of the party. She is expected to carry the weight of the party on her shoulders and ensure that the cadres
remain together.

She has to ensure that the cadre network of the party does not break up with their leader being in jail.
