CM Jagan in attack mode amid swift political changes in AP

VIJAYAWADA: The people as also political parties in AP are curiously watching the aggressive responses of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy amid swift political developments in the state and a meeting between Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan in Vijayawada the other day. The chief minister is likely to target the two at his public meeting at Avanigadda on Thursday.

He might not directly respond to the Opposition but the programme of resolving the issues of prohibited lands and the public meeting at Avanigadda would occasion likely responses from the chief minister to the latest efforts for a re-alliance between the Telugu Desam and the Jana Sena.

Ruling party ministers and leaders are lambasting Pawan for raising his chappal in a warning to YSRC that its men would be beaten black and blue for calling him a Package Star. Ministers Ambati Rambabu, Ch Srinivasa Gopalakrishna, Gudivada Amarnath, Karumuri Nageswara Rao, Dr Seediri Appalaraju, Kottu Satyanarayana and MPs, MLAs and other YSRC leaders held press meets on Tuesday and Wednesday at various places and repeatedly called Pawan a Package Star. They challenged him to field Jana Sena activists for all 175 assembly seats without any alliance if he wanted to prove his strength.

Adviser to government (public affairs) Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, a trouble shooter in YSRC, used to issue a clarification whenever an issue arises and, and from Jagan’s side, further counter attacks coming from opposition parties. He said Pawan and Naidu were in a hidden pact till now but they showed their true colours by removing their masks.

Jagan was continuously calling Pawan as Datta Putrudu (adopted son) of Chandrababu Naidu and projecting Naidu and his associates as Dushta Chatushtayam (four evils) -- resembling Duryondhana, Dussasana, Karna and Shakuni characters from epic Mahabharata -- at every public meeting. These have turned into ‘buzz words’ among the public and in political circles.
The CM did not spare Naidu and others while he held forth at the YSRC plenary, calling them as Naluguru Bandipotlu, a gang of four dacoits.

He started countering Naidu and others from the Narasaraopet public meeting, where he first called Pawan as Datta Putrudu. He called heads of two vernacular dailies and channels as Mareecha and Subahu, the characters from Ramayana, and he called Naidu and others as Dushta Chatushtayam, at the Ongole public meeting.

Political analysts say that within hours of giving a warning to the YSRC, Pawan met Naidu in Vijayawada and gave hints about uniting the opposition parties in the name of Save Democracy, at the joint press meet there. This was the clear indication of a possible re-alliance between the TD and JS in the upcoming elections in both TS and AP.

“The CM uses every public meeting to lash out at Naidu and PK. Hence, chances are bright of Jagan responding to the swift political changes and the Pawan-Naidu meeting, during his public meeting at Avanigadda,” the analysts say.
