Chennai: Continuing his parleys with key political leaders in the state, TNCC president S. Thirunavukkarasar is expected to meet VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan, a key constituent of the PWA.

The Congress leader has been meeting several leaders after his visit to the Apollo Hospital, where Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa is being treated.

Thirunavukkarasar met Vijayakanth, who is gearing up to contest in the bypolls to three constituencies.

Thirumavalavan had already declared that his party is not interested in fielding candidates for the bypolls and would consider supporting other parties. But, it is not known if the Congress leader is seeking VCK's support for the DMK candidates, discussing about fielding common candidates or exploring an electoral arrangement for the local body elections.

Thirumavalavan, has several times in the past, has favoured a tie up of the Congress and PWA too. The Congress needs to keep alternate arrangements in place, if it is preparing for a tough bargain with the DMK in the local body election seat negotiations. The meeting will come a day after Union Minister Pon. Radhakrishnan met the VCK leader and discussed the Cauvery issue.
