Forensic reports rule out foul play in former Arunachal CM Kalikho Pul's death

The Guwahati-based forensic laboratory, to which the viscera samples were sent, submitted its report to the Arunachal government last week.

Guwahati: Forensic reports on Thursday said that the cause of death of former Arunachal Chief Minister Kalikho Pul was indeed, suicide.

According to a report in the Hindustan Times, the forensic department submitted the report to the state police earlier last week informing them that there was no foul play suspected.

The 47-year-old Congress leader was found hanging from the ceiling of the chief minister’s residence which he was yet to vacate. He was found dead by one of his three wives, and a suicide note was also found near the body. A case of unnatural death was registered and a magisterial probe was ordered.

The Guwahati-based forensic laboratory, to which the viscera samples were sent, submitted its report to the Arunachal government last week.

Police officers expressed confidence that the closure report could be filed soon.

Pul’s family also hoped that the investigation would be completed soon.

Pul, who took over the reins of the state on February 19 this year, served as Chief Minister for a brief time until the Supreme Court reinstated Nabam Tuki in July. Nabam Tuki was eventually forced to make way for Pema Khandu as the 10th Chief Minister of the state.
