HYDERABAD: New districts, mandals, and villages were formed by the state government as Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao wants to take governance closer to the people in Telangana state, Finance Minister T. Harish Rao said on Tuesday.
He was speaking after inaugurating the BRS’ minorities’ function hall in Sangareddy, where several Congress leaders were inducted into the BRS.
“The Chief Minister wished to decentralise governance by forming new districts, mandals, and villages. After decentralisation, Narayankhed transformed into a developing town, with a revenue division and new mandals. We have created 100 new gram panchayats. A total of 223 gram panchayats have been formed. Revenue divisions have increased from 43 to 74 while the number of mandals has increased from 459 to 612, the credit for which goes to the Chief Minister,” Harish said.
“When Y.S. Rajashekar Reddy was the Chief Minister in undivided Andhra Pradesh, he promised free power supply. However, nothing was done to this effect.
The BRS government provides a free supply of power for farmers and uninterrupted power to other sectors. With Mission Bhagiratha, the Chief Minister has ensured water supply for every house in the state. Congress leaders are propagating falsehoods,” the finance minister stated.
