Lobbying intensifies for TRS district president posts

The committees are expected to play a key role in the 2023 Assembly elections

Karimnagar: With the TRS exercise to constitute committees from the village to mandal and town levels set to be completed on September 20, many senior leaders are competing for the posts of district presidents, in the erstwhile Karimnagar district area that covers Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jagtial and Rajanna Sircilla districts.

The committees are expected to play a key role in the 2023 Assembly elections, and the district unit president is seen as the mediator between public representatives and the party leadership and the party workers.

In Karimnagar district, minister Gangula Kamalakar, MLAs Rasamai Balakishan and Sunke Ravi Shankar and B. Vinod Kumar, vice-chairman of the TS Planning Commission, are expected to secure a major share of posts to their followers.

Suda Chairman G.V. Ramakrishna Rao, Challa Hari Shankar, PACS chairman Veerla Venkateshwar Rao, former mayor Ravinder Singh and former MLA Koduri Satyanarayana are vying for the district unit president’s post in Karimnagar district.

In Peddapalli district, MLAs Dasari Manohar Reddy and Korakanti Chander Patel along with zilla parishad chairman Putta Madhukar are lobbying for their favourites.

Former ZPTC Ganta Venkataramana Reddy, Mutharam mandal president Potipeddi Kishan Reddy, libraries chairman Raghuveer Singh are in the fray.

In Jagtial district, minister Koppula Eshwar, MLAs Dr Sanjay Kumar and Kalvakuntla Vidyasagar Rao are batting for their supporters. Badineni Rajendar Reddy, Ilneni Vidyasagar Rao and Annam Anil are in the race for the district head post in the Jagtial district.

In Rajanna Sircilla district, the decision of party working president and minister K.T. Rama Rao will be final for all posts in the district. Former ZPTC and former district president Thota Agaiah, SES former chairman Chikkala Rama Rao and Chiti Narasingh Rao are in the fray.

Sources said that the leadership had decided to hand over the district presidency to those who were with the party from its inception.

The TRS leadership is likely to consider certain equations while making the selections. Those can give all their time for the party and those who are not in the race for 2023 Assembly election tickets will get the district president posts.
