Congressman proposes, high command disposes
Hyderabad: The Congress high command shocked party leaders including Mr A Revanth Reddy who were expecting important slots in election-related committees.
The list released on Wednesday also showed the lack of coordination between the high command and the state Congress. As a result, former Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy, who joined the TRS on September 12, was appointed to the coordination and manifesto committees. The Congress removed his name only after the media highlighted this.
Former MLA T. Jayaprakash Reddy alias Jagga Reddy, arrested on September 11 on charges of human trafficking and lodged in Chanchalguda jail, was appointed to the coordination and committees.
The Congress did not give Mr Revanth Reddy the chairmanship of the campaign committee that he was lobbying for. Mr Revanth Reddy had met party president along with some Congress senior leaders and had sought the post. However, the high command appears to have heeded some other Congress leaders who objected, and denied Mr Revanth Reddy the post,
Mr Revanth Reddy had openly said in his media conference that he would not accept the post of TPCC working president. But that is the job the high command found for him.
AICC secretary and former MP V. Hanumantha Rao expected to head the campaign committee. In the past, Mr Hanumantha Rao had campaigned across the state as campaign committee chief. He was appointed to head the strategy and planning committee.
Telangana CLP Deputy Leader Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, a Legislative Council member, expressed displeasure over the formation of the committees. He met AICC leader Ghulam Nabi Azad who came to Hyderabad on Wednesday and expressed his unhappiness.
