Former legislative Council chairman and senior Congress leader V.R. Sudarshan has written a letter to party president Sonia Gandhi to field Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah from one of the assembly constituencies in Kolar, Chikkaballapur or Tumakuru districts in the 2018 elections.

In his letter addressed to Mrs Gandhi, Mr Sudarshan explained how Mr Siddaramaiah was relentlessly working for the development of the state.

"Besides other work he has taken up, the CM has allocated Rs 16,000 crore to take up the permanent irrigation projects in Bayalu Seema region (plain land area) comprising Kolar, Chikkaballapura, Bengaluru Rural and Tumakuru districts. No chief minister had ever done such a commendable job," he said.

"There is no politics involved here. I am writing this letter from the development angle," he said.
