Differences with BSY not as serious as projected: KS Eshwarappa
Shivamogga: Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Mr K.S. Eshwarappa admitted on Monday that the differences of opinion between him and State BJP President B.S. Yeddyurappa have not been sorted out completely but was quick to add that they were not as serious as was being projected in the public domain.
Speaking at a press conference here, the former Deputy Chief Minister noted that there was confusion and difference of opinion over the appointment of office-bearers to district BJP units and the state unit. “I have met national party leaders before to discuss the issue and they in turn have assured me that the differences would be resolved soon”, he said.
“Whatever differences we leaders have, it will not adversely affect the party’s leadership. Those who have served the BJP for two-three decades should get some positions in the state unit but leaders from the now defunct KJP had been inducted in key positions which is not acceptable,” he maintained. On the proposed Sangolli Rayanna Brigade spearheaded by him, Mr Eshwarappa clarified that he had formed the forum after taking permission from the party high command. The forum had been floated to strengthen the party’s roots in the coming days. “Mr Yeddyurappa was initially confused over the formation of the Brigade, now that he knows about its objectives, he has stopped speaking against it.”
Speaking about his relationship with the party, Mr Eshwarappa said, “BJP is like a mother for me. I will not do anything to divide the party, I will remain in the BJP till my last breath.”
