We want to develop in TN, says Pon Radhakrishnan
Chennai: Union minister of state for road transport, highways and shipping Pon Radhakrishnan said his party did not want to be "guardian for other parties" and that it wanted the lotus to bloom in Tamil Nadu.
"We don't want to be guardian for other parties. We, as a party, want to develop and we will ensure our growth," Mr Radhakrishnan said. Speaking to reporters here on Saturday he said there were "no influential leaders in any political party who enjoyed the people's support now." "Neither the ruling party nor the opposition party which claims to come to power has influential leaders who enjoy people's support. The ground is vacant. Whoever runs fast and is received by people will get the space. BJP will emerge victorious and occupy the vacant space," he claimed.
Earlier, while participating in a function at Chennai central railway station, where Union railway minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu inaugurated a slew of facilities through video conferencing from Rail Bhavan in New Delhi, Mr. Radhakrishnan said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been implementing numerous schemes in Tamil Nadu, as if he has adopted the state.
The projects inaugurated on Saturday include additional restroom at the new concourse and LED lightings at Chennai Central station also a new foot-over-bridge at Thiruvottiyur station. A booking office at western side of Guindy station, two escalators at Chepauk station on platforms 1 and 2 are the other facilities made available.
High speed WiFi facility at Chengalpattu station, information centre and CCTV cameras at Katpadi Station add to the list.
