Karnataka Board posts: Siddaramaiah to leave for New Delhi next week?

Mr Siddaramaiah has shared this idea with AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh, who seems to have approved it.

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is likely to leave for New Delhi next week to finalise the list of chairpersons to be appointed to state-run boards and corporations.

“Mr Siddaramaiah is likely to visit New Delhi on August 25. He has discussed the matter with many State Congress leaders. However, the key issue that emerged out of this discussion was whether the party should follow AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s formula of rewarding the posts to party workers or can they be given to the MLAs aspiring for Cabinet berths,” a senior Congress leader told Deccan Chronicle on Friday

According to the source, Mr Siddaramaiah feels that with just 20-months for the Assembly elections, it would be better to give these posts to the party MLAs and some defeated candidates instead of workers.

“Mr Siddaramaiah has shared this idea with AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh, who seems to have approved it. Therefore, it is only for the formality sake Mr Siddaramaiah will be visiting New Delhi,” the source said.
