Shrimant Patil wasn’t abducted: Speaker KR Ramesh

After examination, the doctors have advised him complete rest.

Bengaluru: Denying the claims of the Congress party that its Kagawad MLA Srimanth Patil was 'abducted by' BJP leaders, Assembly Speaker K.R. Ramesh Kumar said the member has clarified that he was undergoing treatment in a Mumbai hospital for chest pain and has sought permission to remain absent from the remaining part of the ongoing monsoon session.

Making a statement in the Assembly on Friday, Mr Ramesh Kumar said the MLA has sent a video recording from the hospital that he had gone on work to Chennai where he suddenly took ill. Subsequently, he boarded a flight to Mumbai and got himself admitted to a hospital as per the doctor's advice. After examination, the doctors have advised him complete rest.

Since it happened al of a sudden, he could not send a letter seeking permission to remain absent for the rest of the session in an official letter head. The MLA also denied the Congress claim that he was abducted by BJP leaders to prevent him from voting on the crucial confidence motion which was moved by Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy in the wake of the resignation by 15 Congress and JD(S) MLAs.
