Karnataka: JD(S) MLA wants session on Kalasa-Banduri
Bengaluru: Taking strong objection to the government cutting short the recent legislature session, Janata Dal (Secular) legislator, Kona Reddy on Tuesday called for a separate legislature session to debate the Kalasa-Banduri issue.
Speaking to reporters here, Mr Reddy said that the project was essential to provide drinking water to four districts and nine taluks of North Karnataka.
Regretting that the “government's adamancy” did not allow the subject to come up for discussion during the recent legislature session, he said it deserved a new one for a detailed debate.
Urging PM Narendra Modi to intervene in the Mahadayi dispute and settle it outside the tribunal, he appealed to state BJP leaders to persuade him to do so. Mr Reddy contended that Additional Solicitor General, Athmananda Nadakarni, should not be allowed to represent the Centre in the case as he was from Goa.
