H D Kumaraswamy meets M. Mallikarjun Kharge amid speculation

Mr Kharge was actually upset with Mr Kumaraswamy for removing T. Suneel Kumar from the post of Bengaluru city police commissioner.

Bengaluru: With the state Congress in ferment and Congress Legislature Party(CLP) leader, Siddaramaiah meeting AICC president Rahul Gandhi in Delhi to discuss political issues related to Karnataka, a meeting between Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and veteran Congress leader M. Mallikarjun Kharge has led to intense speculation that Mr Kumaraswamy is trying to build bridges with Mr Kharge who is reportedly not happy with Mr Siddaramaiah’s domination of Congress affairs in the state.

However after the meeting, Mr Kharge told reporters that the CM had only come to his house to seek his advice as he was proceeding to Kalaburagi district to undertake a village stay programme soon. "I told him that people may raise issues in the constituency which he should address," said the former Kalaburagi MP.'

Sources in the Congress confided that Mr Kharge was actually upset with Mr Kumaraswamy for removing T. Suneel Kumar from the post of Bengaluru city police commissioner. Apparently, Mr Kumar was close to Mr Kharge.

On realising this, Mr Kumaraswamy tried to make amends by visiting the Congress leader and seeking his advice on his proposed village stay programme in Kalaburagi, sources explained.
