AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu says he trusts Parakala Prabhakar

Expressing his confidence in Mr Parakala's character and integrity, the CM said that he never compromised on the interests of the state.

Vijayawada: The advisor (communications) to Andhra Pradesh government, Parakala Prabhakar, resigned on Tuesday. The reason, he cited, is that allegations have been levelled against him because his wife, Nirmala Sitharaman, is in the BJP and is a Union minister.

It may be recalled that Ms Sitharaman had advocated the emergence of smaller states as the BJP leader during the bifurcation days, while her husband launched the united AP agitation, which showed his commitment to the united state of Andhra Pradesh.

A top bureaucrat in the CMO says Mr Parakala should not resign because “the opposition generally targets the strength of the CM as well as state government and keeps on levelling such baseless allegations.”

Meanwhile, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu questioned his party leaders for not responding to the YSR Congress’s attempts to throw mud on the government. “It is not a personal attack on Parakala Prabhakar alone. It is the conspiracy of YSRC and as part of that, they want to fire bullets on our government by targeting Parakala,” the CM explained and asked party leaders to plunge into action.

Expressing his confidence in Mr Parakala's character and integrity, the CM said that he never compromised on the interests of the state.

It may be recalled that even Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan had raised the issue of Mr Parakala’s continuance as adviser to the government, when his wife is in the Union Cabinet. YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy too echoed Mr Kalyan’s opinion.
