BJP gearing up for local bodies polls

Chennai: The state unit of the BJP is gearing up to contest the local bodies elections alone but a final call on electoral alliance will be taken when the election dates approach, claimed Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, party president.

Denying any contradiction in the stand taken by the party on facing the local bodies election alone, she said on Sunday that at present her party was gearing up for the election. “The decision on whether or not to align will be taken at the
time of election.

Currently, we are preparing our party members to face the election alone,” she said and added that there was no difference of opinion on the issue with Union minister of state for road transport, highways and shipping Pon Radhakrishnan.
