Mysuru: Chief Minister Mr H.D. Kumaraswamy asserted on Sunday that the coalition government will not collapse for any reason.
The government is functioning under the leadership and advice of coordination committee head Mr Siddaramaiah. As long as the coalition has the support of Siddaramaiah and Congress president Rahul Gandhi, none can topple this government, he said.
He was speaking after releasing books authored by Journalist Mr Amshi Prasanna Kumar, at Kalamandir in Mysuru on Sunday.
He said, "While BJP leaders are dreaming that the government will fall after May 23, and are ready with new suits and boots, their dream will not come true," he said.
He said, "My statement about Mr Mallikarjun Kharge (on the veteran leader losing the opportunity to become CM) was made only out of respect for him. But media hyped it," he said.
Mr Kumaarswamy also said that even the statement of minister Mr Puttarangshetty is only his personal opinion. (Congress minister Mr Puttarangshetty had in Mysuru said that though Mr Kumaraswamy is the Chief Minister, he sees Siddaramaiah in that post.)
Continuing in the same vein, the CM said, "BJP State head Mr B.S. Yeddyurappa alleged that I am maintaining silence by making Mr Horatti and Mr Vishwanath speak(about JD-S problems) , but I have not reached that state. I have not survived because of the media, I survive with the blessings of 6.5 crore people of Karnataka.”
Taking potshots at the media, he said that he is contemplating bringing a law to restrain the media." If I still have some respect for media it is because of the print media who have maintained their journalistic ethics. There is no politician who was as close to the media as me. but I have maintained a distance for some time as it has become dangerous to stay connected with the media especially the electronic media these days. If we see the breaking news they have been showing for some time, we can’t sleep. They don't know what to telecast and what not to, they telecast news based on their own imagination and they exaggerate. Should politicians be your only subjects to increase your TRP? Are politicians freebies (bitti bidhdhidiva) or comedy pieces? So I am thinking of measures to restrain the media," he said.
