Parties rally for Mulug district

Police refused to let the bike rally proceed towards the collectorate.

Warangal: Mild tension prevailed at Ekashila Park in Hanamkonda when police obstructed a bike rally, taken out by activists of various political parties, demanding carving out of Samakka-Saralamma Mulug district on Thursday.
Functionaries of the Congress, TD, BJP, Left parties and the Zilla Sadhana Committee members took out a rally with around 200 bikes from Mulug to Warangal to lay siege to the collectorate.

Police refused to let the bike rally proceed towards the collectorate. There was a heated argument between the activists of various parties and the police and finally, police agreed to allow 10 people go into the collectorate to represent their issue.

TD leader and former MLA Seetakka, Podem Veeraiah, Zilla Sadhana Committee founder Munjala Bikshapathi and others met district revenue officer K. Shobha and handed over a memorandum to her with their demand. Speaking to the media, Ms Seetakka demanded Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to fulfill his promise of forming a tribal district with Mulug as the headquarters. She pointed out that if the district was formed, the tribal population can witness development.

"Mulug is the largest assembly segment spread in 305.024 hectares covering Mulug, Venkatapuram, Govindaraopet, SS Tadwai and Eturunagaram mandals. Mulug has got all the facilities required to be a district headquarters and it would be a more suitable place than Bhupalpally. It is well connected with NH-163 and NH-363. Nearly 4,000 acres of land is available at Jakaram near Mulug," she said. Congress leaders G. Rajender, TD leader D. Jayapal Reddy, BJP leaders Banala Raju and K. Yadagiri took part in the bike rally.
