Thirumavalavan demands re-poll in some parts of Chidambaram

He told presspersons at Kumbakonam near here that Dalits were not allowed to vote at 10 am at Ponparappi.

Thanjavur: Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader Thol.Thirumavalavan, who contested from Chidambaram Lok Sabha constituency, on Friday demanded a re-poll at Ponparappi in Ariyalur district which comes under Chidambaram Lok Sabha constituency.

He told presspersons at Kumbakonam near here that Dalits were not allowed to vote at 10 am at Ponparappi. He also alleged in the violence, allegedly let loose by BJP and PMK, many huts and two-wheelers were damaged. He charged that 2,000 bogus votes were polled. "We demand re-polling in Ponparappi and I would submit a petition in this connection to Ariyalur district collector, who is the returning officer for the constituency" Thirumavalavan said.

The PMK talked about booth capturing, he alleged. In Thanjavur district, Dalits were not allowed to vote in Marathurai and Neerathanallur, he alleged.

He said that there will be change of government at the centre and Tamil Nadu after results were declared on May 23. He thanked DMK cadres for working hard for him in Chidambaram. He predicted that the DMK alliance will sweep the polls.
