Vangaveeti Radhakrishna not to contest polls
Vijayawada: Kapu strongman Vangaveetiu Mohan Ranga’s son Vangaveeti Radhakrishna got a raw deal from the TD.
He had quit the YSRC and joined the TD a few days ago. It was speculated that he would get a chance to contest from one of the MP seats where there are more Kapus. However, he was denied a ticket. Mr Radhakrishna will now be confined to campaigning for the TD in Kapu strongholds.
TD supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu announced that Mr Radhakrishna will be the star campaigner of the TD.
Accusing YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of humiliating him and complaining of suffocation in the party, Mr Radhakrishna had quit the YSRC in January. He was denied the Vijayawada Central Assembly seat which he had nurtured for long ever since he lost in the 2014 polls from Vijayawada East. He had maintained a low profile ever since he quit the YSRC without revealing his plans on the next move.
As speculated, he joined the TD after the release of the poll schedule, it is learnt, on the assurance that he would be fielded from either the Machilipatnam Lok Sabha seat in Krishna district, Anakapalli in Vizag district or any of the Assembly segments in the twin Godavari districts. The final list of the Lok Sabha candidates does not feature his name.
