YS Jagan Mohan Reddy asks voters to switch on the fan

Jagan Mohan Reddy likened the fan to the Sudarshana Chakra of Lord Vishnu that put an end to evil characters like Sisupala.

Avanigadda/Vemuru: Upping the ante against TD supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu, YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy appealed to voters to switch on the fan, the party's symbol, so that TD would be blo-wn away from the battle.

Addressing a string of public meetings which were heavily attended, Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy likened the fan to the Sudarshana Chakra of Lord Vishnu that put an end to evil characters like Sisupala. “The people of Andhra Pradesh are Sri Krishna personified who will press the fan button on EVMs to eject the corrupt rule of TD and usher in the welfare state of credibility and transparency,” Mr Reddy said.

His catchphrase “Nenu Vinnanu, nenu unnanu (I have heard everything, I am with you),” evoked rapturous applause from the crowds which respo-nded with chants of “CM, CM.” He said the Machilipatnam port, ref-inery and other industries which were promised had not taken off and the crime rate in Vijayawada had increa-sed with the call money sex racket involving ruling party workers and leaders, Mr Reddy said.

“Naidu promised a capital city of world standards but not a brick was moved. However, real estate business yielded profits to his coterie. Special category status was not an issue for Naidu when he was a partner of the NDA but after coming out he resorted to theatrics of dharma porata deekshas seeking SCS, something which he spoke ill of for four and a half years,” Mr Reddy said.

“Naidu did the same when he usurped power and the party from NTR. During elections he shamelessly carries the photo of NTR to seek votes. It was Naidu who has agreed for the special package and thanked the Centre through a resolution in the Assembly,” Mr Reddy said.

Mr Reddy said, “When we held demonstrations and dharnas demanding SCS, Naidu has made every effort to foil them and threatened the youth with dire consequences if they participated in such programmes.”

He accused Mr Naidu of putting out inflated and fudged figures on development.

He said moving the no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha was a decision the YSRC had taken, which Mr Naidu had copied. But the TD did not follow the YSRC when its MPs resigned for special status.
