5 heirs, 5 BCs, 3 defectors get seats in Telugu Desam’s 2nd list

In the list of Lok Sabha candidates, five heirs of prominent TD leaders who are all first timers were given a chance.

Vijayawada: The TD released its list of names for 25 Lok Sabha and 36 Assembly segments in the state on Tuesday. Earlier TD supremo and AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had released the first lists for 126 Assembly seats.

In the list of Lok Sabha candidates, while 10 sitting MPs were renominated, five heirs of prominent TD leaders who are all first timers were given a chance to contest.

There are two state ministers and four former Union ministers. Five candidates from the backward classes got the opportunity this time.

Mr Kinjarapu Rammo-han Naidu, Mr P Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Mr Mag-anti Babu, Mr Konakala Narayana, Mr Kesineni Venkateswarlu (Nani), Mr Galla Jayadev, Mr Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, Mr Sriram Malyadri, Mr Nimmala Kistappa and Mr N. Sivaprasad were renominated from their respective Parliament constituencies.

Visakha Dairy chairman Adari Tulasi Rao, Ms Maganti Rupa, daughter-in-law of Rajahmundry MP Maga-nti Murali Mohan, Mr Ganti Harish, son of former Lok Sabha speaker G.M.C. Balayogi, Mr J.C. Pawan Kumar Reddy, son of Anantapur MP J.C. Diwakar Reddy were no-minated to contest from Vizag, Anakapalle, Raja-hmundry, Amalapuram and Anantapur Parlia-ment segments.

Three defectors from the Congress former Union ministers V. Kis-hore Chandra Deo, Kotla Surya Prakash Reddy and Panabaka Lakshmi were fielded from Araku, Kurnool and Tirupati respectively.
