Roja avoided us, says privilege committee of Andhra Pradesh Assembly

Hyderabad: Despite Nagari YSR Congress MLA R.K. Roja being called to be present before the privilege committee of the AP Assembly committee to offer her explanations earlier, she had failed to turn up.

On Saturday again she sent a note stating that she could not attend. The committee thus felt that Ms Roja was intentionally avoiding attending the committee and as such there was no need to give her another opportunity to explain her stand and decided to recommend the suspension.

Ms Roja, in the last session of the AP Assembly, had approached MLA Ms Anitha and abused her, citing her caste name.

The committee also recommended action against Gudivada YSR Congress MLA Kodali Nani for his objectionable comments against minister K. Atchannaidu. About the quantum of punishment, the Committee stated: “let the House decide”.

In a related issue, the committee decided to drop action against three YSR Congress MLAs, Jyothula Nehru, Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy and Chevireddy Bhaskara Reddy, for their objectionable behaviour after they expressed regret before the committee.
