Revanth demands SIT probe into Khadeer\'s death

HYDERABAD: Demanding that the last video of Khadeer Khan, who died after four days of alleged torture by the Medak police, be considered as his statement against the policemen, PCC chief A. Revanth Reddy demanded a SIT probe into the police highhandedness.

Revanth Reddy shared the video clip of Khadeer Khan in which the victim, during his treatment in hospital spoke of his ordeal before his death. On Twitter, Revanth Reddy demanded Rs 50 lakh ex gratia tp the victim’s family.

“Last video of Mohd Qadeer which should be taken as a Dying declaration who says Medak police beat him up for 5 days & how they tried to cover it up. I strongly condemn this atrocious act and demand SIT enquiry and ex-gratia of 50 lakhs to khadeer's family (sic),” he tweeted tagging the Chief Minister’s office and the DGP.

Former minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir questioned home minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi for their silence over the issue. He strongly condemned the Telangana Police for trying to cover up the custodial death. "Why is home minister Mahmood Ali silent on this issue? Why is he not at least acknowledging the custodial death of Khadeer Khan? Is this the KCR government's example of 'friendly policing'?" he asked.

"The MIM leader went to Bharatpur in Rajasthan to meet the families of two youth Junaid and Nasir who were murdered in Haryana by right-wing goons. While we strongly condemn the murder of Junaid and Nasir and demand stern action against the culprits, we expect Owaisi to express a similar reaction to Qadeer's custodial death who belonged to his home state,” he said.
