Mysuru: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy said that he would seek the opinion of people of Mysuru, and also get scientific reports from experts before taking a final decision on conserving the heritage buildings of Mysuru without tampering with their original structure.

With Mysore city corporation recently passing a second resolution recommending demolition of historic structures like the 125 year old Lansdowne building and the 122 year old Devraja market, Mr Kumaraswamy visited Devraja market on Tuesday morning. Speaking to media persons he said, "I am not going to take a hasty decision in this regard. Heritage structures including Devraja market built during the reign of the royal family of Mysuru must be conserved and the livelihood of shopkeepers of the market must also be taken into account. At the same time, safety of people is a concern. So we will hold a meeting of people of the city shortly and obtain their opinion. We will also consult experts on strengthening and conserving these structures," he assured.
