Jangampet seat puts Telugu Desam in a fix
Kakinada: Kakinada MP Thota Venkata Narasimham may remain in Telugu Desam or move to another party like Jana Sena or YSR Congress.
Sources said that YSR Congress has kept the doors open for him but the MP is waiting for Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's decision on alloting party ticket to his wife.
Mr Narasimham is not in the best of his health but his wife Vani is keen on playing a key role in politics. She was earlier elected as sarpanch of Veeravaram, native village of her husband. Narasimham and his family have a stronghold over Jaggampet Assembly constituency and was elected twice as MLA on Congress ticket.
His brother late Thota Venkata Chalam was also an MLA from there. Marasimham was elected Kakinada MP on TD ticket in 2014 elections. Now he is keen to contest from Jaggampet constituency.
The MP, his wife and their son Ramji met the Chief Minister on Tuesday at the CM's chamber. It is learnt that he requested Mr Naidu to give ticket to his wife from Jaggampet constituency and Mr Naidu informed him that he would consider it.
According to sources, Jyothula Venkata Appa Rao (Nehru) who was elected Jaggampet MLA was from YSRC but switched his loyalty to TD. His son Jyothula Naveen Kumar became Zilla Parishad chairman, after joining TD.
It is said that Mr Nehru wants Mr Chandrababu Naidu to give Jaggampet ticket to his son Mr Naveen Kumar. In these circumstances, the political analysts say that Mr Narasimham threw his ball in the CM's court.
