Triple talaq bill against Muslim women: Asaduddin Owaisi
Kurnool: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday termed the Muslim Women (Protection on Rights on Marriage) Bill, 2017 as ‘draconian’ and asked Modi government to draft a legislation against husbands abandoning their wives than pursuing a legislation against triple talaq.
Speaking at a meet organised here by All India Muslim Personal Law Board on the evil effects of Modi governments move on triple talaq,
Owaisi said that the bill would lead to further exploitation of married Muslim women.
YSRCP Kurnool in-charge Hafeez Khan said that the bill would rob the basic safety apparatus for the muslim women and it had the potentiality to cause more harm to married woman.
He said that as such there is no triple talaq practiced in the Indian conditions.
It was a misnomer to say that divorce was granted just in a jiffy by uttering the three prohibited words.
He sought to explain that triple talaq bill was against the interests of the Muslim women who are further made vulnerable.
He urged the Prime Minister not to interfere in the institution of marriage zealously protected by time tested religious arrangements.
The meet was attended by Maulana Raheemuddin Ansari Saheb (Jamia Darul Uloom, Hyderabad) , Maulana Qubool Pasha Shitari Saheb (Majlis Ulama e Dakan), Maulana Haamid Mohammed Khan Saheb (Jamat e Islami), Maulana Hafiz Peer Shabbir Saheb (Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind), Maulana Safi Ahmed Madani (Jamiat Ahle Hadees), Mufti Ghyasuddin Rahmani Saheb (Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind), Maulana Jafar Pasha Saheb (Amaarat-e-Sharaiah), Mufti Sadiq Mohiuddin Saheb (Jamia Nizamia) among others.
