Do justice to Mid Manair oustees: Bandi Sanjay

Karimnagar: BJP national general secretary and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar wrote a letter to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday urging him to resolve the long-pending issues of oustees of the Mid Manair Reservoir and implement the poll promises of the Congress.

He said that because of the negligence of the previous BRS government, the oustees had been facing a lot of problems for the past 10 years.

The Congress government in the united Andhra Pradesh started the Mid Manair project 17 years ago to supply water for drinking and irrigation needs of the region. In 2005-06, the government issued G.O. No. 69 promising the construction of houses and compensation to the 12,500 families of recognized oustees from about 12 villages under the Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) package for sacrificing their lands and villages.

In the 2018 Assembly elections, former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao promised the oustees double bedroom houses and '5.04 lakh per acre as compensation apart from setting up an industrial corridor from Nilojipally to Agraharam through Nandigama village including a skill development college. But to date, the victims have not been given any compensation and the houses.

In the letter, the BJP MP stated, “Two years back when the oustees staged a dharna which was supported by all opposition parties including you (Revanth Reddy) and me.” As the TPCC chief, Revanth promised them that if the Congress formed the government in the state, action would be taken against Rajya Sabha member Santosh Rao and family members of KCR who misappropriated the R&R package, he reminded.

Demanding action against the culprits, he urged the CM to pay the compensation, allot houses to the oustees and set up the industrial corridor and skill development college in the area.
